This application is for the French Language Assessment (FLA) process which assesses your French language proficiency to deem you qualified for French Immersion and French Core opportunities.<p>Candidates are encouraged to review the French Teaching Selection Process page on the Board website for additional information regarding Hiring Process, Resources, and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). <p>French Language Assessment Process Overview<p>The YRDSB French Language Assessment (FLA) is required for all candidates who would like to teach at York Region District School Board. The FLA is used to evaluate both the productive and receptive skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. <p><p> The assessment will determine if candidates have the language skills appropriate for the Board?s French program. <p> Should you be hired into a Long Term Occasional (LTO) assignment and/or Contract/Permanent position with the Board, in addition to completing the YRDSB FLA, candidates are encouraged to enroll or have completed their French as a Second Language (FSL), or equivalent, based on OCT qualifications to be hired for French positions with YRDSB.<p><p>The YRDSB FLA consists of the following:<p><p> Listening Comprehension - The language assessor reads aloud a few sentences while the candidates are expected to transcribe them, demonstrating overall comprehension by using proper use of grammar, punctuation etc. <p> Oral Expression - Candidates are expected to engage in spontaneous conversation on a variety of topics that will be presented by the Assessor.<p> Written Expression - Candidates are required to complete a written submission on a topic of general interest and a short multiple choice quiz that covers some foundational rules of French grammar. <p> Reading Comprehension - Candidates will be given a short reading text with Multiple Choice Questions.<p><p>Note: The FLA will take approximately one (1) hour to complete.<p>In preparation for the FLA, we encourage all candidates to review grammar rules, construction of sentences, and vocabulary.
