The Deputy Fire Chief will play a significant role in supporting the District?s mission and vision for providing community protection. This position reports to the Fire Chief/Municipal Emergency Coordinator and will be expected to fill that role in their absence. The Deputy Fire Chief will assist the Fire Chief in providing strategic direction for the Chetwynd Volunteer Fire Department and will administer operations, services and programs. The Deputy Fire Chief will play an integral part in emergency operations as well as recruitment and training of the volunteer fire department. Qualifications for the role include relevant fire certifications augmented by several years of experience as a fire fighter and fire officer. Our ideal candidate is an experienced fire service leader with broad knowledge and applied experience in the full workings of a community fire department. Additional must haves are enthusiasm, creative problem-solving abilities, and demonstrated commitment and passion for quality care, efficient service delivery, and collaborative teamwork. A competitive salary of $95,000 and an extensive benefit package is offered. Additional incentives include relocation expenses and five paid flex days in addition to an annual vacation allowance. This position will require regular scheduled weekend work as well as time on-call as the Duty Chief and long hours during emergency situations.
