Court Liaison OfficerJob order - J1124-0108 - Regular Full-TimeTitle Court Liaison OfficerCategory Police (Civilian)City Port Moody, British Columbia, CanadaJob Description Court Liaison OfficerABOUT THE POSTIONThis Regular Full-Time position reporting to the Business Systems Manager, primarily serves as the department?s Court Liaison Officer while also acting as the department?s CPIC Coordinator.Duties include performing specialized work involving the review and transmittal of prosecution reports to Crown Counsel and the efficient processing of persons through the criminal justice system. The incumbent ensures that all information processed for court files is accurate and complete. This position liaises with Federal and Provincial Crown Counsels, other federal, provincial and municipal agencies and officials and department staff to facilitate the criminal case management process. The position is also responsible for CPIC record transactions and entries as well as ensuring the completeness, currency, and validity of CPIC records. Considerable independence of judgment and action is exercised within departmental regulations, policies and procedures and within applicable laws and legal practices.POSITION OVERVIEW: Liaises with a variety of internal and external contacts including Federal and Provincial Crown Counsel, the Federal Justice and Attorney General Departments, the Court Registry, other court related agencies and other police detachments on matters related to the criminal case management process; Ensures prosecution reports and support documents are accurate and complete and forwarded to Crown Counsel in accordance with legal requirements and established procedures; assists Crown Counsel and Court Registry staff in compiling and coordinating police and court file documents. Ensures all directives, actions request, correspondence and documents directed to the Police from Crown Counsel and other services, within the judicial system are forwarded and responded to promptly. Monitors court schedules to ensure members? availability on scheduled court dates; ensures members receive notification and denotification of court attendance; resolves court scheduling conflicts. Prepares and maintains a variety of records, reports, forms and statistics on matters related to the work. Reconciles IntelliBook records with PRIME-BC RMS and manages the related CJIM submissions and dispositions. Schedules and participates in stand-by coverage of the Court Liaison position. Swears informations before a Justice of the Peace. Reviews police occurrence files, release documents, and JUSTIN sentencing documents in order to ensure the required information is entered on CPIC accurately. Provides expertise and advice to staff regarding CPIC functionality and policy. Responds to CPIC audit requests and conducts required validations of CPIC entries. Transports court-related correspondence to and from the court locations. Performs related duties, as required.WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE: Related post-secondary education and/or a specialized technical certification program; plus a minimum of 3 years of directly related experience in a police environment. An equivalent combination of training and experience as acceptable to the employer may be considered. Familiarity and proficiency in the use of police software applications related to the work. Sound proficiency in the use of the MS Office Suite of applications. Thorough knowledge of the departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to the work performed. Considerable knowledge of evidentiary requirements, the Criminal Code of Canada and other applicable federal and provincial statutes and municipal by-laws enforced as related to the work performed. Considerable knowledge of the criminal justice system and court procedures. Ability to ensure that investigating officers respond promptly to requests from Crown Counsel for additional information. Ability to provide direction to members
