People like you!This is supervisory, operational and technical work involving building and equipment operation, maintenance and repair and janitorial tasks. An incumbent in this class assigns, schedules, supervises, evaluates and participates in the work of a small group of subordinates engaged in building and equipment routine maintenance on and off site; sets assignment priorities; and trains new employees. Performs a variety of maintenance, repair and/or operational duties relative to the facility, pool and heating, ventilating, air conditioning and pool equipment and related systems such as checking system component operation and making necessary adjustments; also including a variety of minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry duties such as replacing washers, faucets, repairing doors and re-installing toilets and sinks. An Aquatic Maintenance Supervisor inspects the facility, fixtures and stationary equipment regularly to ensure operational requirements are met and for signs of deterioration; advises a supervisor of the need for major repairs; identifies and makes recommendations regarding plant modifications or equipment additions required to improve operations. Develops, implements and maintains preventative maintenance schedules and operating procedures for the applicable facility, fixtures and stationary equipment; obtains as required, the services of and oversees the work of private contractors effecting minor repairs; and ensures physical structure repairs and maintenance are addressed by Physical Plant Maintenance. Other responsibilities include preparing labour and material cost estimates for projects; requisitions from the Municipal Stores or purchases, within established guidelines supplies; assists in the preparation of budget estimates regarding maintenance and repair costs and expenditures; initiates work orders for work required to be done by municipal crews; and prepares payroll input records while maintaining a variety of records related to the work. Performs related work as required.Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by technical courses related to the work, plus sound related experience in aquatic facility maintenance including some supervisory experience, or, an equivalent combination of training and experience. Thorough knowledge of the functions of and operating principles and procedures of water heating, filtration and chlorination equipment and the methods, practices, materials and tools used in the operation and maintenance and repair of swimming pools and related stationary equipment. Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in building maintenance and repair and janitorial work. An incumbent will have the ability to assign, supervise, evaluate and participate in the work of, and to train a small group of subordinates engaged in building and equipment maintenance and repair, operational and janitorial tasks. Ability to identify causes of equipment breakdown and identify potential problems; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts; and have the skill in the use and care of a variety of tools and equipment used in the work.
