Position: Security Guard Site: Lambton County Library Address: 124 Christina St S, Sarnia, ON N7T 8E1 City: Sarnia, ON Status: Full-Time Hours: Monday to Friday (0700-1400/1400-2030) subject to change based on library events Pay Rate: $18.54/hour after completion of site training Overtime Method: Employment Standards Act Are you interested in starting a career in a fast paced and growing industry? Our training programs are also a leader in the security industry, and they will help prepare you for advancements, as well as build your resume for a potential career in law enforcement.Essential Job Functions:Open and close the facilityPatrol (by foot) the interior and exterior of the facilityControl access/egress to the buildingOperate, access and monitor CCTV equipmentTroubleshoot and report on problems discovered through CCTV footageMonitor alarm systemProvide security escortsProvide high level of customer service ? Able to liaise with all levels of staff, community contacts and patrons of the facilityCommunicate professionally, respectfully and with compassion when interacting with members of the public and practicing de-escalation with trespassers and vagrantsMaintain a high standard of civility, deportment, and appearanceComplete well-written and detailed daily shift and incident reports as soon as possible following an eventIdentify hazards that would have the likelihood of causing harm, injury or damage, evaluating the risk, and responding to and controlling hazards in a timely effective mannerProtect all persons (including public, staff, volunteers, on-site contractors, tenants) and property in the event of medical, fire, disaster, severe weather, bomb threat, evacuation and other emergencies; Liaise with key community contacts such as Sarnia Police Services, Sarnia Fire, Lambton EMS, etc, as requiredFunction as the primary first aid service provider.
