We are looking for a part-time Instructor who will lead our Medical Office Assistant and Hospital Support Specialist Program in a blended type of instruction delivery. The successful candidate will teach the courses online and in-person at our New Downtown Vancouver Flagship Campus.
Reporting to the Program Coordinator and Campus Director this position requires the instructor to prepare both international and domestic students to gear up for success in a promising career in office administrative function in Canadian healthcare system.
Schedule:
Thursday to Sunday, 8:15AM to 1:30PM
Days, Friday & Saturday on-campus and Sunday online
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organize daily teaching schedule and monitor student progress through completion of theory and practical assessment
- Teach students using a systematic plan with clear learning objectives
- Prepare teaching materials, assessments and lesson plan for courses
- Administer and grade all assessments and exams
- Advise students on program curricula needs and inquiries during class hours
- Update and maintain grades on a weekly basis with
- Keep accurate records of student attendance and report patterns of absence
- Proactively interact and supervise students and regularly provide positive feedback and opportunities for problem solving and team collaboration
- Maintain a professional relationship with students while ensuring that their general well-being is addressed through Student Services supports
- Attends to Faculty meetings and college events as needed
Credentials & Qualifications:
\*\*Graduate of diploma Medical Office Assistant program with 3 years experience in the industry or at least 10 years of demonstrated experience in the Medical Office Administration
- In-depth understanding in the Canadian healthcare and Hospital System
- A minimum of 3 years full-time work experiences as Medical Office Administrator or Patient Care Coordinator
- Teaching experience with international students preferred (minimum 2 years)
- Fluent command of the English language; both verbal and written mastery (if none native speaker must meet or exceed 7.0 IELTS)
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office specially, Excel/PowerPoint, and familiar with LMS - Moodle and team video conferencing
- Demonstrate capabilities to teach, assess and engage adult learners in a classroom setting.
- Enthusiastic and have "can-do" attitude with strong passion to share his/her knowledge and skills to others
- Possess ability both to work independently and collaboratively with others
- Must exhibit cultural sensitivity and conflict resolution skills
- Highly organize and detail-oriented
\* Short-listed candidates will be required to deliver a demo lesson to a scheduled class
