EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY - YOUTH WORKER
35 hours/week
Qualifications and Skills Required
* Post-secondary education in related field of study such as: social work, child and youth, sociology, psychology
* NVCI, CPR and First Aid, ASIST certification
* Experience working with at risk youth in schools and peer-based programs.
* Sound knowledge of the principles of restorative justice and peer conflict mediation with youth.
* Sound knowledge of evidence based interventions for youth in school.
* Sound knowledge of the roles and functions of schools, police, relevant community resources and legislation.
* Interviewing, counselling, case management, group facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
* Report writing, recording, data collection, statistical management, program implementation and evaluation skills.
* Volunteer management and supervision skills.
* Community relations, public education and collaborative skills
* Sensitivity to diversity and all cultures is essential
* Advanced oral and written communication skills
