PO Box 33066, Quinpool Road, Halifax, NS B3L 4T6 Salary: $ 21.58 hourly / 35 to 40 hours per Week Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full-time Day, Early Morning, Evening, Morning, Weekend Starts: as soon as possible Vacancies: 1 Vacancy Languages: English Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years Workplace information: On-site Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely. Responsibilities Tasks:- Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions Address customers' complaints or concerns Professionalism in customer service Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials Privacy. Oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment Perform brake adjustments Perform emergency roadside repairs Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle Perform preventive maintenance Receive and relay information to central dispatch Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption Tarping and ensuring the safety and security of cargo Credentials: Driver's License (Class 3 or D) Documentation knowledge:- Bill of lading Driver logbook Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip) Trip reports Type of trucking and equipment: Dump truck Area of work experience: Construction site Security and safety:- Criminal record check Driver's validity licence check Drug test Work conditions and physical capabilities:- Attention to detail Large workload Physically demanding Repetitive tasks Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots Personal suitability:- Efficient interpersonal skills Judgement Organized Reliability Team player Hardworking Other benefits:- Team building opportunities Parking available Who can apply for this job?
