Director of Finance <p>Are you passionate about finances and want to make a difference in education? Are you a Leader with Integrity, Inspire Financial Excellence: Shape the Future of Education as our Director of Finance!<p>The Palliser School Division has an immediate opening for a motivated, energetic, team-oriented Director of Finance. This position will oversee financial operations and provide insight into key financial decisions.<p>The Director of Finance will develop and deliver timely, effective and engaging communications to support key stakeholders within the Palliser School Division. The successful candidate will be quality-minded, responsive and dedicated to Palliser School Division?s best practices of communication.<p>The Division: <p>The Palliser School Division is a public-school jurisdiction located in southern Alberta. Palliser?s geographical area stretches from Coaldale to Calgary, Alberta. For the 2024-2025 school year, the Division currently has approximately 9,400 students. Palliser serves students in ECS through Grade 12 in 14 community schools; 11 faith-based alternative schools, ten of which are in Calgary on nine separate campuses; one sports-based alternative school, four alternative programs for Low German-speaking Mennonite families; 17 Hutterian colony schools; homeschooling, online and international programs. Palliser employs approximately 1,400 staff members in full-time, part-time and sub/casual positions.<p>What You Will Do: <p><p> The Director of Finance will report directly to the Associate Superintendent of Business Services;<p> Oversee accounting operations including payroll, accounts payable/receivable and general ledger functions;<p> Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards;<p> Responsible for preparations with Auditors;<p> Collaborate with schools/departments to create and manage their respective budgets;<p> Responsible for implementing and maintaining financial policies and procedures;<p> Prepare and present financial reports. <p><p>The Successful Candidate will have: <p><p> Proficiency with financial management software?s;<p> Excellent leadership and team-building skills;<p> Strong understanding of financial regulations, tax laws and reporting requirements;<p> Experience and knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards;<p> Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with a variety of audiences with both finance and non-finance backgrounds;<p> The ability to demonstrate unwavering ethical conduct, integrity, loyalty, respect, and honesty in all interpersonal relationships.
