Job details
Education: Bachelor's degree. Pharmacy (PharmD, BS, BSc, BPharm). Work setting: Relocation costs covered by employer. Community or retail pharmacy. Tasks: Advise customers on indications, contraindications, adverse effects, drug interactions and dosage. Dispense prescribed pharmaceuticals to customers or to other health care professionals. Order and maintain stock of pharmaceutical supplies. Advise customers on selection and use of non-prescription medication. Check prescriptions for proper dosage. Compound prescribed pharmaceutical products by calculating, measuring and mixing the right quantities of drugs and other ingredients. Maintain medication profiles of customers including registry of poisons and narcotic and controlled drugs. Manage the storage, packaging and distribution of medicinal products . Supervise and co-ordinate the activities of other pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, pharmacy technicians and other staff. Control the quality of drug products during production to ensure that they meet standards of potency, purity, uniformity, stability and safety. Evaluate labelling, packaging and advertising of drug products. Leading/instructing individuals. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. 3-4 people. 5-10 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Certification for drug administration by injection and intranasal route. Pharmacy Examining Boards of Canada Certification. Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities. Area of work experience: Quality assurance or control. Security and safety: Eligible for professional liability insurance.
