Our schools are dispersed geographically and range in size and composition:-13 elementary schools<p>-1 middle school<p>-1 K-10 school<p>-4 secondary schools<p>-2 K-12 schools<p>-online learning and blended programs<p>-an extensive array of program options, including Aboriginal Education, Late French Immersion, Outdoor Programs, and a strong International Program.The annual pay range for a full time teacher is $63,367 to $111,488, with placement on the range based on experience and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.<p>Wildflower school requires a middle school teacher that is highly skilled in teaching in a multi-age learning environment (students age 12-15) and is committed to creating a classroom community of support, safety, trust, respect, and compassion. Teachers interested in the position should practice pedagogy that is trauma-informed, community focused, and focuses on educating the whole child. In addition, a commitment in working collaboratively with parents, teachers and the greater school community are required. The teacher will be required to design, implement and assess thematic, cross-curricular learning activities across all domains.Require Qualifications and experience <p>Proven ability to teach effectively in a multi-aged classroom<p>Proven experience teaching intermediate students.<p>Proven understanding of the proponents and rationale of multi-aged learning<p>Proven ability to plan thematically and effectively integrate all curricular elements into a broad year-long theme<p>Proven ability to design and implemented inquiry based learning in all curricular areas.<p>Proven success using a wide variety of authentic assessments strategies in all curricular areas<p>Proven ability to manage and coordinate parent and community volunteers in the classroom<p>Proven ability to plan, coordinated and integrate place-based learning opportunities<p>Proven experience implementing restorative justice and compassionate communication with both children and parents<p>Proven ability to work with parents to collaboratively design individualized home-schooling plans<p>Demonstrated commitment to supporting and guiding parents in their 5.5 hour/week home-educator role.<p>Proven understanding of and commitment to the tenets of Attachment Theory as it pertains to the teacher-student relation and the parent-child relationshipDesired Qualifications and Experiences <p>Proven commitment to collaborative planning and team teaching<p>Excellent self-management and organizational skills<p>Experience and deep commitment to planning and building a multi-aged classroom community<p>Experience in developing a hands-on middle school program with a focus on real life skills and connections<p>For more information on this position please contact Principal Nick Graves at nick.graves@sd8.bc.ca School District 8 supports equity hiring for Indigenous applicants.
