Are you looking for a better balance in public practice with growth opportunities?</p><p>JSP Accounting is growing and looking for a Senior Accountant to add to the team in order to service our corporate and personal clients. We are a firm of young professionals in the GTA area with over 180 corporate clients in various industries. Our boutique office environment allows for proper work-life balance and flex hours. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight on day-to-day operations as well as accurate financial and tax reporting. We are looking for a professional who is highly energetic and looking to grow with our firm into a manager role.</p><p><em>Compensation & work hours:</em></p><p>Base salary is $65-$80K with paid vacation, annual bonus, and more.<br />Hours (generally) 9am - 5pm, busy season (February - April) 8:30am - 5:30pm, Summer Hours (June - August) early Fridays.<br />Hybrid of remote and in-office work for staff is available.</p><p><em>Responsibilities:</em></p><ul><li>Conduct compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping and tax engagements</li><li>Oversee junior staff that are working both remotely and at the office</li><li>Complete bank and account reconciliations with proper cut-off and accuracy</li><li>Understand client businesses, their key risks and think strategically about client needs</li><li>Compute taxes owed and prepare personal and corporate tax returns</li><li>Identify corporate and personal tax planning strategies for clients</li><li>Prepare government reports (HST, payroll, etc.)</li><li>Liaise with Canada Revenue Agency and relevant provincial ministries on client issues</li><li>Lead the bookkeeping team and work with cloud accounting services to execute full-cycle bookkeeping for clients</li><li>Maintain high-quality control by reviewing financial statements, tax returns, and other work done by team members for accuracy and completeness</li><li>Identify ways to maximize the relationship with clients and deliver added value</li><li>Contribute to the development of work processes with new ideas and approaches</li><li>Develop, coach, and train team members towards professional and personal development</li><li>Communication and correspondence with clients throughout the year by responding to client questions and queries</li><li>Prepare and manage client's government tax slips (T4s, T5s, etc.)</li><li>Maintain file progress reports for the partners</li><li>Meeting with and onboarding new clients</li><li>Will be dealing with privately owned, owner-managed companies</li><li>Some travel may be required</li></ul><p><em>Credentials:</em></p><ul><li>CPA designation; minimum 2+ years of work experience in Canadian public accounting within the last 5 years</li><li>LPA licenses is a strong asset</li><li>Experience working with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) with a strong working knowledge of Canadian corporate and personal income taxes</li><li>Experience working with accounting and tax software such as CaseWare, TaxPrep or TaxCycle, QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, and/or Profile.</li></ul><p><em>Qualitative requirements:</em></p><ul><li>Must be very detail-oriented working with financial data in order to ensure completeness and accuracy of information</li><li>Maintains professional written and verbal communication skills throughout client and staff interactions</li><li>Takes responsibility for one's own performance, highly organized, and uses professional judgement in decision making</li><li>Effectively manages multiple assignments, adapts to changing priorities, and is able to work independently or as part of a team</li><li>Works well in a collaborative setting with a team while actively contributing</li></ul><p><em>TO APPLY: Include your resume NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE.</em></p></div>Company Description<div>Our mission is simple; to provide our clients with personalized, high-quality acc
