Kindergarten T eacher at Kitasoo Community School <p>FTE: 1.0<p>Start date: August 28, 2024<p>Kitasoo Xai'xais Nation is seeking a student-focused, team-oriented Kindergarten teacher to provide a highly successful learning experience for our students for the 2024/2025 school year. <p>We offer small classes (under 10 students), scheduled prep time per week, professional development opportunities, an inclusive learning environment, a comfortable, well-appointed subsidized teacherage, benefits plan and travel expenses. Please see our website: https://kitasooschool.ca <p>Kitasoo Community School is a bright, modern, and spacious, Indigenous K4 to grade 12 school located in the beautiful village of Klemtu on the Pacific Central Coast of British Columbia. We have a new library and active culture, language, and stewardship programs. <p>Klemtu is surrounded by pristine wilderness in the Great Bear Rainforest. Wildlife abounds, from eagles to bears, sea otters to sea lions and whales. Kayak on the weekends (with one of the school's six boats), canoe on the nearby lake (in a community canoe), or hike through old-growth forests.<p>Ideal qualifications, experience, and skills: <p><p> BC Teacher Certification <p> Bachelor of Education (or higher)<p> A passionate, dedicated kindergarten teacher <p> Teaching experience at the primary grades<p> The ability and energy meet the needs of students with a range of learning styles and abilities using a variety of teaching strategies<p> Actively work closely with staff in a team-oriented approach to teaching and learning<p> Ability to embed local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into teaching practices<p> High standards of professional conduct and professional excellence; effective and innovative practice; lifelong learning and personal/ professional growth <p><p>Job Duties: <p><p> Cultivate a play-based classroom, with literacy- and numeracy opportunities.<p> Create a positive, structured, and safe learning environment for students.<p> Be nurturing and patient; incorporate social emotional learning.<p> Plan engaging units and implement the re-designed BC Curriculum.<p> Differentiate instruction and assess student learning.<p> Communicate with students, and parents/guardians.<p> Work with colleagues as part of a collaborative team.<p><p>Salary and Benefits <p><p> Salary range $65, 494 115,692 per annum, based upon education, TQS and experience (based upon the School District No. 49 Central Coast Teachers' Salary Grid)<p> Medical, dental, extended health and group life insurance benefits plans<p> Pension available<p> Moving expenses provided<p> Well-appointed teacherage accommodation provided for a minimal monthly cost ($400), utilities included except internet ($50 allotment/month)<p> Friendly, collaborative work environment<p><p>APPLICATION PROCESS: Please submit:<p><p> A cover letter,<p> Resume, including three current references,<p> BC teaching credentials and certification,<p> Reference letter(s), and<p> Teaching evaluation(s).<p><p>New teachers welcome.
