The Surrey School District team of approximately 13,000 employees works tirelessly every day to ensure that children are getting the best start they can, providing the preparation to be our leaders of tomorrow. <p>A Mechanical Instrumentation and Control Technician Tradesperson works under general direction, using independent trade skills, problem-solving skills and judgement as to the method(s) for performing work while adhering to current standards (industry) and to all current applicable policies, codes, by-laws and regulations. Work assignments are received orally and/or in writing. A Mechanical Instrumentation and Control Technician Tradesperson may provide technical direction to other trades, contractors, and assigned helpers, as required. A Mechanical Tradesperson may be required to prepare as-built drawings or sketches of completed tasks or projects. This role reports to a Foreman and Management. <p>TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES <p><p> Performs work within the Mechanical trade, using customary hand and power tools and monitoring devices, while applying current trade standards and all current governing codes, by-laws, policies and regulations.<p> Assists in preparing labour and material cost estimates.<p> Prepares as-built information on completed projects and tasks.<p> Requisitions equipment and materials, as required.<p> Prepares working drawings and sketches, as required.<p> Provides technical direction to other trades, contractors, helpers and other employees, as required.<p> Provides input into project design, repair and modification, as required.<p> Operates computer equipment, as required.<p> Drives a District vehicle to and from job sites.<p> Performs related duties, as required. <p><p>KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS <p><p> Must have install and commissioning field experience (bonus if you hold a factory endorsement from one of the DDC manufactures).<p> Installation or Service repairs and diagnostics are an asset. <p> Knowledge of physical installation integrations between DDC control panels and field devices (i.e. sensors, actuators, switches, relays, and dumb and smart enabled equipment) would be an asset. <p> Low voltage and data wiring installation experience is an asset. <p> A valid unrestricted BC Drivers' License is required as position includes work at multiple sites with shift times that may vary. <p> Position consists of trade related physical demands pertaining to climbing, crawling, lifting, and carrying. Basic computer skills are required.<p><p>TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE <p><p> Completion of grade 12 or equivalent plus completion of apprenticeship training from a vocational institute recognized by the District in the applicable trade.<p> Red Seal or Certification in an applicable trade, ideally Instrumentation or Control Technician or other trade supplemented with experience in a variety of building automation applications and installations relevant to Direct Digital Control (DDC) of HVAC, Mechanical and Lighting con
