Job details
Education: College/CEGEP. Physical therapy technician/assistant. Work setting: Medical clinic. Tasks: Assist health care professionals. Carry out treatment programs, under the direction of physiotherapists and/or occupational therapists, to rehabilitate patients with various injuries or disabilities. Help physical therapists. Position patients for treatments by chiropractor or machine. Set up and dismantle equipment. Clean and maintain equipment. Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies. Order and purchase equipment. Plan physiotherapy programs. Maintain supplies. Assist chiropractor with physical examinations. Document patient rehabilitation progress. Prepare and maintain cleanliness of collection areas. Schedule and confirm appointments. Manage routine office functions including reception, telephone and booking appointments. Teach and/or supervise exercises to patients. Order supplies and equipment. Organize and maintain inventory. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Physically demanding. Hand-eye co-ordination. Work under pressure. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Repetitive tasks. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Attention to detail. Ability to distinguish between colours. Walking.
