Our schools are teaching communities where principals, vice-principals, teachers and support staff nurture student well-being and challenge students to achieve their best.<p><p><p>We are seeking a creative, dynamic and committed educators to submit an Expression of Interest for Continuing Education:<p><p><p>Winter 2025 Night School (VIRTUAL) - Secondary Teacher<p><p><p><p><p> <p> <p> <p> <p> Overview<p> <p> <p> <p><p><p> <p>The Winter 2025 Night School program offers Reach Ahead courses in the following subjects: Guidance and Career Education, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences and Humanities, ESL, as well as the Ontario Secondary School Literacy course. The Winter 2025 Night School program for students will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from Thursday, February 20 - May 29, 2025. There will be a paid staff meeting prior to the start of the Night School classes on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm via Google Meet. For specific course information, visit the Continuing Education Night School website: Night School. <p> <p>Each session is 3.85 instructional hours, running from 5:30 p.m. to 9:21 pm. Teachers must be prepared to deliver the assigned credit through Synchronous and Asynchronous platforms according to a PREDETERMINED schedule. The platforms that will be used to deliver virtual learning expectations will include Google Classroom as the Learning Management Platform and Google Meet for class meetings. Teachers may also wish to incorporate other vetted applications and resources and will be able to access resources within the VLE.<p> <p>As the program is offered in virtual format, it is expected that all educators have access to secure and reliable internet, without additional cost to the OCDSB. <p> <p>Please note, as per the collective agreement, article 40.02 c: in the event that the Employer cancels two (2) or more days/evenings of Continuing Education courses as a result of unforeseen circumstances beyond its control, Continuing Education teachers will be required to attend and teach a make-up evening. All teachers, with or without Continuing Education (CE) Seniority, can apply to this posting. Applicants MUST hold Senior qualifications with the Ontario College of Teachers (in good standing) at the time of application.
