Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work setting: Transportation. Private sector. Tasks: Compile orders and instructions received from customers. Organize tasks to accomplish the work. Plan and organize operational logistics of the organization. Track and complete work orders. Prepare and submit reports. Maintain work records and logs. Resolve work problems, provide technical advice and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality. Prepare and maintain progress and other reports. Project management. Provide customer service. Train workers in duties and policies. Arrange training for staff. Co-ordinate, assign and review work. Advise vehicle operators of traffic and other problems. Dispatch personnel according to schedules and work orders. Follow-up on issues with work orders. Keep track of shipments. Knowledge of cross border dispatching regulations and practices. Knowledge of highway trucking and associated rules and regulations. Computer and technology knowledge: Dispatch management service software. Monitoring and tracking software. Database software. Electronic mail. Database. Internet. MS Access. MS Excel. MS PowerPoint. MS Word. MS Windows. Adobe Acrobat Reader. MS Office. Service experience: Trucking. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to work independently. Work under pressure. Tight deadlines.
