Creme is an exciting new brunch café bringing a fresh, innovative dining experience to waterfront Halifax . We are passionate about high-quality food, exceptional service, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for our guests. We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen operations and ensure we maintain high standards in all aspects of food preparation and kitchen management.
Position Overview:
The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen activities, including menu development, food preparation, staff management, inventory control, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. As a key part of our leadership team, you will help create and maintain a positive, collaborative kitchen environment that reflects our café?s commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Menu Development: Work closely with Executive Chef to develop and refine a seasonal brunch menu that aligns with the café?s vision, emphasizing fresh, local ingredients and creativity.
- Team Management: Train, and lead kitchen staff, ensuring they are well-equipped to maintain the highest standards of food quality, cleanliness, and efficiency.
- Operations Oversight: Manage daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and ensuring consistency in all dishes served.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all food served meets our quality standards, is prepared to recipe specifications, and adheres to portion control guidelines.
- Inventory and Ordering: Oversee ordering, receiving, and inventory of kitchen supplies, ensuring cost-effective management of ingredients and minimizing food waste.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure that the kitchen adheres to all health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment at all times.
- Cost Management: Work to optimize food and labor costs while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless communication and delivery of an exceptional guest experience.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager, Head Chef, or similar role in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, ideally in a brunch-focused restaurant or café.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a cohesive kitchen team.
- Expertise in food safety regulations and kitchen sanitation standards.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy kitchen setting.
- Financial acumen with experience managing food and labor costs.
- Creativity and passion for developing fresh, innovative brunch menus that appeal to a diverse clientele.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
