We are one of the most established and reputable independent scrap metal processors in Ontario with our second location in Stratford, ON and our newly launched location in Owen Sound, ON. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced *Logistics Specialist* to oversee and manage the efficient transportation and fleet operations within our organization. This role is pivotal to ensuring timely and cost-effective movement of goods and services, optimizing fleet performance, and maintaining high safety and compliance standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics, fleet management, and team leadership, with the ability to troubleshoot, optimize processes, and drive operational excellence. *Key Responsibilities:* *Fleet Management:* * Oversee day-to-day operations of the company?s fleet of vehicles, including trucks, vans, and other transportation assets. * Ensure all vehicles are well-maintained, compliant with regulatory requirements, and operationally efficient. * Develop and manage a preventative maintenance schedule to minimize downtime and repair costs. * Maintain detailed records of fleet usage, maintenance schedules, repairs, and other necessary documentation. *Logistics Coordination:* * Plan and optimize routes for timely and cost-effective delivery. * Coordinate transportation activities with other departments (e.g., warehouse, procurement, and sales) to ensure smooth logistics flow. * Track shipments and deliveries to ensure they meet customer requirements, quality standards, and timelines. *Budget and Cost Management:* * Develop and manage the logistics/fleet budget, identifying areas for cost reduction and process improvement. * Monitor fuel usage, tolls, and other operating expenses to optimize budget adherence and reduce costs. * Negotiate with vendors for services related to transportation, fleet maintenance, and logistics support. *Team Leadership & Development:* * Lead, train, and motivate a team of drivers, warehouse staff, and logistics personnel. * Set performance goals and conduct regular performance reviews for staff. * Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory guidelines for all personnel. *Compliance and Reporting:* * Ensure all operations adhere to local, state, and federal regulations. * Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, trends, and changes in regulations affecting transportation and fleet management. * Prepare and present regular reports on fleet performance, safety, and logistics operations to senior management. *Customer Satisfaction:* * Monitor and improve customer service levels related to delivery timelines, vehicle condition, and overall logistics operations. * Handle customer complaints related to transportation and logistics, providing timely and effective solutions. *Thank you for considering Benmet Steel and Metal.
