Notice of Employment OpportunityLifeguard/Instructor Level 2(Temporary Part-Time)ABOUT THE ROLEThe Regional District of Nanaimo has an employment opportunity for a temporary part-time Lifeguard/Instructor Level 2 at the Ravensong Aquatic Centre in Qualicum Beach. The Lifeguard/Instructor will assist in the creation, planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of aquatic programs and special events. Duties include leading and instructing a variety of water-based exercise classes (i.e., Aquafit), enforcing pool rules and pool safety for the public, routine preventative maintenance and safety checks, implementation of the facility?s emergency response program, providing first aid services and supporting office staff.QUALIFICATIONSQualifications include high school graduation, with one (1) to three (3) years of pool/aquatic-related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. We are seeking to fill this position with a Level 2 certified applicant; however, we will consider Level 1 applicants if we are not able to fill the role with a Level 2.Applicants must possess and maintain the following certifications: National Lifeguard Award (Pool Option) Lifesaving Society (Swim for Life) Instructor Certification CPR Certification - Basic Rescuer or CPR ?C? & AED Recognized First Aid Certification/WorkSafeBC Equivalency. Level 2 applicants must also have 1000 hours at Ravensong Aquatic Centre, Pool Operator (Level 1), and any one of the following: Lifesaving Instructor, Aquafit Certification (BCRPA Aquafit, CALA Aquafit Instructor), National Lifeguard Service Instructor, Swim for Life Trainer, or First Aid Instructor.POSITION DETAILSThis is a temporary part-time union position for 6 months, with the possibility of ending early or an extension based on operational needs. The (2024) rate of pay is $22.62 per hour for Level 1 and $27.70 per hour for Level 2. The successful incumbent may be entitled to 12.4% in lieu of benefits or the uninterrupted continuation of their benefits package, as provided for in the Collective Agreement between the Regional District of Nanaimo and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 401.Applications will be accepted until 4 p.m., on December 5, 2024.APPLY HERE- LocationNanaimo, BC
