journeyman/woman plumber

Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Plumbing and related water supply services, other. Work setting: Various locations. Commercial. Industrial. Residential. Tasks: Install domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems. Repair domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems. Instruct apprentices. Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors. Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings. Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment. Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges. Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing. Supervise other workers. Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Aerial lift and aerial work platform Certification. Plumber Trade Certification. Working at heights training. Confined Space Entry Training. Driver's License (Class 3 or D). Natural Gas License. Plumber Red Seal Certificate. Gas Fitter Red Seal Certificate. Security and safety: Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Vehicle supplied by employer. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Hand-eye co-ordination. Handling heavy loads. Overtime required. Work under pressure. Personal suitability: Accurate. Excellent oral communication. Judgement. Team player.
