I am engaged. <p> <p>Our vision is to engage, inspire, innovate, because we are always learning. <p> <p>The Avon Maitland District School Board is inviting applications for a full-time permanent 10-month Mental Health Counsellor position at the Education Centre in Seaforth, Ontario.<p> <p>Reporting to the Mental Health Services Manager, the counsellor will: <p><p> Co-facilitate the implementation of the Mental Health Strategy;<p> Provide individual counselling and support students for mental health and wellness, and addictions;<p> Provide group counselling, where desired, for students;<p> Provide consultation and support for administrators, teachers, support staff and parents;<p> Develop and share materials, and provide professional development for students, staff, parents and the school community;<p> Embed and promote mental health literacy, coping strategies, and social-emotional learning in everyday school practices<p> Respond to crises and make referrals to services in community agencies; and,<p> Provide outreach to community partners to inspire a collaborative approach to mental health within the system of care.<p><p> <p>The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications/skills: <p><p> Minimum Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.); Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) preferred, from an accredited School of Social Work;<p> Registration with a college governing mental health professionals;<p> Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practices in school mental health and experience with the implementation and evaluation of mental health programs and strategies;<p> Skilled in psychotherapeutic interventions such as cognitive behaviour therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, and trauma informed practices;<p> Working knowledge of, and/or experience in the education system in Ontario;<p> Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team;<p> Strong communication and presentation skills;<p> Proficiency with software applications such as EMHware, Google, word and Microsoft Teams;<p> Valid driver?s license and personal vehicle; <p> Demonstrated experience in developing successful relationships and collaborations with educators, various partners in mental health, and the broader community;<p> Knowledge of community services and service pathways to access care; and,<p> Crisis intervention training.<p><p> <p>Compensation Package Details :<p>Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, hours may include evenings as needed, 10 months per year<p>Rate of Pay : $49.31 - $57.42 per hour as per Level 7 in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Employment for Non-Union, Management, Administrative and Supervisory Employees<p>Pension Plan : Defined pension plan through the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS)<p>Health & Dental Benefits : <p><p> Extended and Supplementary Health, Paramedical Services, Dental, including Orthodontics, Out of Province/Country and Health Care Spending Account through ONET<p> Comprehensive short-term and long-term disability coverage plans<p> Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through TELUS which includes: <p><p><p> 24/7 confidential support <p> Access to information on personal fitness, nutrition, career, financial and legal advice; relationship & family support, and overall wellbeing resources.<p><p>Employment Start Date: January 6, 2025 <p>Note - A criminal background check will be part of the recruitment process. <p>Why Join AMDSB? <p><p> We believe our students are at the core of what we do; we are committed to creating inclusive, inspiri
