Education: College/CEGEP. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Private sector. Tasks: Interpret blueprints or other instructions to plan methods or sequences of operation. Read blueprints or other instructions to determine work requirements. Assist in design, development and testing. Assist in preparing estimates, schedules, specifications and reports. Write specifications. Assist in inspecting, testing and adjusting electronic components. Calibrate electronic equipment and instruments. Set up and operate specialized and standard test equipment to diagnose, test and analyze the performance of electrical and electronic components, assemblies and systems. Complete work orders, test and maintenance reports. Develop maintenance and operating standards for electrical and electronic systems and equipment. Design electrical and electronic components, systems and equipment. Program programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Area of work experience: Testing and evaluation. Project planning.
