FabHR is seeking a *dynamic and motivated Automation Engineer* to join our manufacturing operations in Ottawa, Ontario. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, documenting, and developing various automated manufacturing processes that utilize *CNC-controlled machine tools* and *industrial robotics*. This includes creating drawings, schematics, software descriptions, operational procedures, and providing training for staff on automation systems.

*Key Responsibilities*
* *Design plant floor layouts* for automation equipment using *CAD*.
* *Develop and document operational and control descriptions* for automation systems.
* Collaborate with the *engineering team* to design tooling and fixturing for automation.
* Create *pneumatic*, *electrical*, and other control-related *schematic diagrams*.
* Develop and document *software descriptions* for PLCs, robots, and other control systems.
* *Write, test, and commission* PLC ladder programs, robot programs, and other control-related software.
* Integrate automation systems with the company?s *Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)* software system.
* Create *operational and maintenance manuals* for automation systems.
* *Train operations and maintenance staff* on the use and maintenance of automation systems.
* Provide *technical support*, including troubleshooting, system optimization, and productivity enhancement.
* Develop methods for *tactile sensing* for robotic systems.
* Design software to integrate *PLC and robot-based equipment* with a PC-based enterprise management system.
*Desired Skills & Experience*
To excel in this role, you should have:
* *Recently graduated* from a *mechanical engineering* program (entry-level position).
* A *creative team player* with the ability to brainstorm and find solutions to specific application challenges.
* Strong *time management*, *organizational*, and *planning skills*.
* Self-motivated and *customer service-focused* with a *positive attitude*.
* *Proficiency in high-level programming languages* and control systems.
* Experience with *Microsoft Office Suite* (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook) and internet navigation.
* *Excellent written and verbal communication skills*.
* Ability to work both *autonomously* and as part of a collaborative team.
* Comfortable *multi-tasking* and working under pressure.
* A *tireless work ethic*, dedicated to exceeding expectations.
* A *post-secondary degree* in *mechanical engineering*, or equivalent work experience.
