Northern Gateway Public Schools invites applications for a Part-time (0.93 FTE) Learning Commons Facilitator (Librarian)/ Teacher Assistant at Harry Gray Elementary School in Valleyview, AB.<p>The Learning Commons Facilitator is expected to promote and facilitate the use of quality learning resources in multiple formats and provide exposure to a wide variety of Canadian and international resources (fiction and nonfiction) which reflect multiple perspectives, promote literacy and numeracy, and develop students' interests and competencies beyond the school setting. A learning commons is an inclusive, flexible, learner-centred, physical and/or virtual space for collaboration, inquiry, imagination and play to expand and deepen learning.<p>Successful candidate responsibilities: <p><p> Supporting the instructional programs at the school<p> Collaborate with other staff to update and catalogue resources<p> Promoting and supporting the use of technology including online resources<p> Facilitate learning of Indigenous knowledge and ways<p> Planning and running learning commons classes for a diverse group of learners<p> Maintain set-up functions, input and retrieve data and reports utilizing the automated Library program and perform circulation control functions.<p> Work with teachers and School Administration to plan programs and approaches to support student learning<p><p>Preference will be given to candidates who: <p><p> Have experience/willingness to work with young people in a school setting<p> Ability to read out loud in an engaging manner to help develop a love of reading in all students <p> Are ready to learn about and further develop the Learning Commons area<p> Are willing to collaborate with school staff to explore use of the Learning Commons<p> Have experience working in a library setting<p> Are self-motivated<p> Enjoys working in a team environment<p> Have strong interpersonal and communication skills<p> Have an understanding of the teaching/learning process<p><p>Start Date: <p><p> ASAP <p><p>Hours of work: <p><p> 30 hours per week<p><p>Wage Rate: <p><p> Teacher Assistant - $17.31/hour - $26.38/hour depending on qualifications and experience<p> Learning Commons Facilitator - - $18.00/hour - $29.47/hour depending on qualifications and experience<p><p>Application Process: <p><p> Email a cover letter and resume, including references, by November 29, 2024, to:<p><p>Mrs. Cheryl Gascoyne, Principal<p>Harry Gray Elementary School<p>Phone: 780 524-3433<p>cheryl.gascoyne@ngps.ca<p>If shortlisted, applicants must bring to the interview a Release of Results of Vulnerable Sector Check that is current within three (3) months. <p>We appreciate all applications; however, we will only contact those who are shortlisted.- LocationValleyview, AB
