<p>We are looking to for an On-Call Early Childhood Educators to support children at our Daycare. <p>The On Call Early Childhood Educator is to provide a solid and safe foundation for the children which fosters their physical, intellectual, emotional, social, creative and very necessary cultural development as an individual and as a member of a group. It is important to value the contributions and needs of the parents and to work in partnership with them in providing care and education.<p>WHAT WE OFFER <p>The OKIB offers a welcoming team environment and a rewarding job experience as you join us in providing services to the Okanagan Indian Band. <p>SUPPORTS NEEDED <p><p>Education Program <p> ? Plan and prepare a quality program based on the centre?s philosophy<p>? Plan, organize and lead daily activities designed to stimulate the intellectual, physical and emotional growth of children<p>? Encourage cooperation and participation of all children in planned activities<p>? Create a safe and secure environment<p>? Liaise with co-workers and other professionals to meet the needs of the children <p><p>Child Guidance<p> ? Treat each child with dignity, respect, love, sensitivity and care<p>? Use guidance techniques that are age-appropriate, fair, and encourage socially acceptable behaviour<p>? Adhere to the B.C. Child Care Licensing Regulations<p>? Provide interaction with the children as a group and as required on an individual basis <p><p>Health and Safety<p> ? Observe for signs of ill health upon arrival and throughout the day<p>? Monitor and record signs and symptoms of ill health and inform the Room Supervisor<p>? Implement the scheduled housekeeping duties<p>? Ensure hazardous materials and products are stored and locked in a safe place<p>? Teach health and nutrition, rest habits and personal hygiene<p>? Maintain hygiene practices<p>? Follow the policy for administration of medication<p>? Administer basic First Aid as required<p>? Maintain constant supervision of indoor and outdoor play<p><p>Parent Liaison<p> ? Maintain a positive liaison with parents<p>? Encourage open communication with parents concerning the needs and progress of their child<p>? Respond to questions concerning policies<p>? Contribute to the monthly parent newsletter<p>? Participate in the planning and implementing of special events, workshops and meetings for parents<p>? Act as a resource person<p><p>Additional<p> ? All persons employed by the Okanagan Indian Band may be required to assist the Band in providing emergency services. Duties assigned during an emergency may differ from regular duties.<p>? Participate in community events as requested<p><p>QUALIFICATIONS <p>Education & Experience <p><p> Early Childhood Educator Certification <p> Current First Aid Certificate as per Schedule C of the Child Care Licensing Regulations<p> Experience working with children under the age of six<p> Experience working with First Nations communities is an asset<p> Experience working with confidential information<p> <p><p> <p>Preference may be given to those having knowledge of the Okanagan culture and traditions
