Then apply to be a Youth and Family Counsellor with our Community Safety Department. You?ll be providing professional social services counselling aimed at preventing/reducing negative contact with the police and criminal behavior by children and youth throughout the City. You?ll provide direct and confidential prevention and intervention services through clinical counselling to children, youth and their families through a variety of assessments and therapeutic approaches. Responsibilities include researching, assessing and taking remedial action in the provision of direct confidential clinical counselling services to children/youth and their families; meeting with parent(s)/guardian(s) to identify challenges and areas of risk; conducting case management for assigned portfolios and preparing assessments, case histories and reports on clients. Performs other related work as required.Qualifications include a Master?s Degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field supplemented with a registered designation of a professional association plus considerable experience in children, youth and family clinical counselling, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A registration with a professional body (e.g. BCACC, RSW, RCC, CCC) is required, along with a Driver?s License for the Province of British Columbia. You should have considerable related experience in counselling youth and their families, as well as sound knowledge of the resources available for vulnerable youth in the community. You must have the ability to conduct assessments and provide counselling sessions to children, youth and parent(s)/guardian(s). Ability to prepare reports and maintain records and files for assigned portfolios is required. The incumbent will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance.Hourly Wage: $40.74 + 12% in lieu of benefits Schedule: This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts can vary depending on operational requirements and are scheduled on an as needed basis.
