We are focused on hiring only those exceptional individuals who value safety in the workplace and remain committed to the collective goal of maintaining our Aecon ?zero injury? culture. *PURPOSE OF THE POSITION* As part of the greater remediation project at *Giant Mine in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories;* we have multiple opportunities ranging from *Apprentice to Journeyperson Ironworkers*. These roles are expected to *start in mid- February 2025 *and will work a 14/7 rotation 10 hours/day, LOA, camp (Yellowknife Lodge) & transportation is provided, subject to qualified applicants. Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, the *Ironworker apprentice or journeyperson* will be responsible to ensure Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. achieves their general and specific project requirements. *ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES* * Read blueprints and specifications to lay out the work * Unload and stack steel units so each piece can be hoisted as needed * Erect and install scaffolding, construction cranes, derricks and other hoisting equipment * Assemble rigging (cables, pulleys, hooks) to move heavy equipment and materials * Attach cables from a crane or derrick and direct crane operators with hand signals or radios * Position steel units, align holes and insert temporary bolts * Check the alignments and join steel parts by bolting or tack welding them with an electric arc process * Assemble and erect pre-fabricated metal structures * Select, cut, bend, position, and secure steel bars or wire mesh in concrete forms to reinforce the concrete * Install ornamental and other structural metalwork such as curtain walls, metal stairways, railings and power doors * Unload and install pre-cast components *KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS* * Physical strength and stamina * Manual dexterity * A safety-conscious attitude * The ability to work with others in a team * Must be willing to work in remote job locations * Repetitive movement * Able to perform in a fast-paced environment * Continuously changing work tasks * Ability to work a significant number of hours throughout the day * Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg * Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments Job Type: Full-time Pay: $34.49-$49.27 per hour Additional pay: * Overtime pay Flexible language requirement: * French not required Education: * AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (required) Experience: * Ironworking: 1 year (required) Location: * Yellowknife, NT (preferred) Work Location: In person- LocationYellowknife, NT
