School District 72 operates throughout a large geographic area. Campbell River and Quadra Island schools and our school board office are located on the traditional territory of the Liidax people. School District 72 also encompasses the traditional territory of the Klahoose (Cortes), K'moks (Sayward), and maku (Bute Inlet) First Nations.<p>Position: Casual Bus Driver <p>Posting Number: 24-BUS-008 <p> Term of Employment: Ongoing <p> Hours/Day/FTE: On-Call, As Required <p> Wage/Salary: $32.48 <p>Deadline to Apply: Ongoing<p>Join Our Team <p>School District 72 is looking for a Casual Bus Driver to join our team of professionals who strive to bring the district's learning beliefs to life. <p>School District 72 (Campbell River) is located on the east coast of central Vancouver Island, extending north to Sayward and south to Oyster River. The district also includes the outer islands of Read, Cortes, and Quadra. The district serves over 5,600 students in 18 schools with a diverse range of programs that are progressive and responsive to the educational needs and interests of students. <p>The district respects and values the relationships with all First Nations, Mtis, and Inuit peoples who reside in these territories. It is with respectful consideration that the programs and services provided to students and staff acknowledge their histories, cultural contributions, and contemporary concerns.About the Role <p>The Casual Bus Driver will operate a school bus in accordance with the BC Motor Vehicle Act Regulations and School District Policy, to transport students and staff within the district, and on field trips. This position is on-call as required, throughout the school year. Carries out all aspects of bus driving work. <p> Provides a safe environment for students on the bus. <p> Ensures the vehicle is maintained in safe condition. <p> Practices good driving habits and defensive driving at all times. <p> Directs and monitors students to ensures compliance with safe loading, riding and unloading procedures, particularly for those with special needs or prone to violent behaviour. <p> Advises parents, teachers and school administrators regarding student behavior and discipline. <p> Maintains a positive working relationship with school administration, parents, staff, and students. <p> Responsible for cleaning and minor maintenance of buses. <p> Assists skilled mechanics and completes general related duties. <p> Works from oral and/or written instruction and to established procedures including but not limited to the SD72 School Bus Driver's Manual, and individual student Risk Reduction Plans. <p> Other related duties as assigned.Bring your Expertise Minimum of 1,000 hours of recent experience in bus driving.<p> Possess a current valid BC Drivers' License, Class 2, with airbrake endorsement. <p> Have a clear understanding of bus driving functions, procedures, and equipment. <p> Ability to speak, read, and write English. <p> Be physically capable of performing all facets of bus driving.Contribute to Our Success <p>The Campbell River School District proudly developed a strategic plan for 2024-2028 that prioritized the following: Honour Indigenous World Views and Perspectives <p> Student-Centred Learning Environments <p> Evolving for TomorrowThe following commitments are essential to all positions within the Campbell River School District: Commitment and adherence to workplace policies, procedures & practices. <p> Commitment to standards of conduct, including behaving in a manner that is: respectful, professional, team-oriented, collegial, collaborative, ethical, honest, and trustworthy. <p> Commitment to understand and implement the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to- LocationCampbell River, BC
