District of BarriereWater & Wastewater Operator The District of Barriere invites applications for the permanent Water and Wastewater Operator position in the Public Works department. This is a regular, full-time (40 hours per week) union position subject to the terms and conditions in the collective agreement between the District of Barriere and CUPE Local 900 and includes a three-month probationary period. The current rate of pay is $33.20 per hour plus benefits. This position reports to the Senior Utilities Technician and Public Works Manager and is expected to undertake or assist with the operation, maintenance, and repair of the District?s water and wastewater systems. Typical Duties & Responsibilities include: Operation and maintenance of the District?s water and wastewater treatment systems; Installation, maintenance, and repair of the Districts?s water distribution system, and wastewater collection system, including lift stations; Required maintenance to wells, pipes, valves, pumps, tanks and other infrastructure Water quality testing and sampling; Water meter reading; Assists in all infrastructure construction projects and oversees the protection of community utility assets; Participation in rotational on call as required. Required Knowledge & Skills: EOCP Wastewater Treatment Level 2 Certification or higher; Sound knowledge of proper public works construction and maintenance practices related to potable water distribution, wastewater treatment, and wastewater collection systems; Ability to work as part of a team and independently; Strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills; Possess knowledge of and ability to follow all WorkSafeBC and Occupational Health/Safety regulations, and; Valid B.C.
