*Job Summary* Reporting to the OM, the Production Manager position is responsible for directing and managing all plant operations and activities across a multi-shift operation, while ensuring that Safety, Quality, OpEx, Manufacturing and Financial targets are met. *Essential Duties and Responsibilities* * Provides the vision, leadership, and coaching needed to develop and maintain the competencies, performance, and collaboration of plant supervisors and departmental employees. * Drives positive change in all aspects of plant operations including safety, quality, costs, delivery and housekeeping by using continuous improvement tools, methodologies and shop floor metrics. * Works close with all departments including production, quality, OpEx, maintenance, purchasing, Sales and Customer Service to ensure that operations of the company support company goals. * Provides leadership and coaching to the production team in the area of employee relations which includes employee performance management and related disciplinary actions. * Establishes and monitors overall plant performance for production and quality standards. * Reviews production costs and product quality and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of the division. * Seeks ways to streamline processes and to ensure efficient accurate use of resources. * Implements and supports programs and policies of the Company. * Other duties and responsibilities as assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed. * Regular and predictable attendance averaging a minimum of 8 hours per day * Safely performs tasks and adheres to all safety policies and procedures. ?Leads by example? at all times *Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements * To be considered for this position, the successful candidate should possess the following: * Candidates should possess a Bachelor?s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field from a four-year college or university; _*plus*__, 3+_ years of relevant experience within a manufacturing environment. * Understand production planning concepts. * Possess a working knowledge of TPS Lean Manufacturing concepts, material management, basic maintenance, quality programs, safe equipment operation and JHSC fundamentals. * Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. * Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with hourly production staff and members of the leadership team. * Demonstrated ability to teach, coach. * Self-motivator as well as the ability to motivate and stimulate the activities of others * Strong analytical, problem solving and resolution implementation. * Highly organized with attention to detail and the ability to handle shifting and multiple priorities. * Ability to multi-task as well as stay organized to complete the duties as required of self and others. * Knowledgeable and fully experienced with using Microsoft suite, ie. Excel and Word * Flexibility in work hours to be able to support all three shifts *Safety* * Hazards - Exposure to excessive noise, cut hazards * Strain/Sprain, Laceration/puncture, particulate exposure, contusion, temperature extremes * Controls - Personal protective equipment, safety training, written procedures * Safety Equipment ? Hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots with metatarsal protection, cut resistant gloves, cut resistant outerwear, other equipment as dictated by the specific department *Work Environment* * Works both in an office environment with controlled climate as well as on the plant floor * Regular presence in the plant environment will be expected where noise levels can be moderate to high and be subject to the same general climate conditions of the region (heat, cold, humidity, etc.). * Chemicals, dust, pollen, and other typical airborne particulate matter are present within the atmosphere of the production floor and may create some odors in the plant.
