Join the Village of Cumberland as a Bylaw Officer, where you will make a meaningful impact through bylaw enforcement, animal control and community engagement.About The Role:Reporting to the Director of Development and Bylaw Services, this position involves inspection and regulatory work focused on enforcing municipal bylaws through inspections, investigations, and public education. Key responsibilities include: Responding to bylaw complaints, conducting inspections, and gathering evidence. Interpreting and enforcing regulations with tact and diplomacy. Animal control duties, including seizure and transport. Preparing reports and maintaining accurate record. Providing guidance on bylaw matters to the public. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations diplomatically. Physical capability to handle animal control duties including managing stray and dangerous dogs. Proficiency in administrative tasks and the preparation of accurate reports and records. Understanding of and experience with using trauma-informed principles. A relevant diploma from a recognized post-secondary school. Bylaw Compliance, Enforcement and Investigative Skills Certificate or equivalent. Familiarity with Rules of Evidence.
