LABOURER - REPLACEMENT STEP #1<p><p><p>There is a position available for a Labourer - Replacement Step #1 at Facilities. All applications must be completed online via the website and will be accepted until noon, December 4, 2024.<p>Reporting to the Operation Manager and Working Lead, this position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of School District grounds and facilities.<p><p><p>Hours of Work: (8) hours per day<p>Duties to Commence: As soon as possible after closing and will end upon the return of the incumbent<p>Work Year Base: Twelve (12) months per year<p>Commencing Salary: $27.74/hr.<p><p>Duties to be assigned include:<p><p> Repairs, replaces and maintains; fences, playground equipment, grounds, driveways, sidewalks, parking lots and other District facilities. Delivers furniture, equipment, materials and supplies as required by; <p> <p> Following work orders assigned by Supervisor(s)<p> Responding to emergency telephone requests (including clean up of broken glass, leaking water, and removal of dead animals)<p> <p> <p> Organizes work day under the direction of the Supervisor(s) by location, priority, work site availability (contacts trades and district staff to ensure the work site is ready).<p> Safely operates grounds maintenance equipment such as tractors with attachments, small to large sized mowers, flat deck truck and trailer, bobcat and loader, and other equipment.<p> Assists trades as required and directed by Supervisor(s)<p> Oversees the work of one or more helpers as assigned.<p> Follows proper safety rules and standards by ensuring the worksite is safe and secure, that equipment and vehicles are operated according to set standards.<p> Ensure the safe handling of hazardous materials (WHMIS) and the safe use and operation of equipment and hand tools.<p> Informs the Supervisor(s) and/or site Administrative Officer(s) of vandalized equipment or property.<p> Performs other job related duties as directed by Operations Manager or Working Lead.<p><p><p>Qualifications and Attributes:<p><p> Grade 10 or equivalency<p> 1 year experience in grounds and building maintenance is preferred<p> Class 5 driver's licence<p> Acceptable driver's abstract<p> Heavy Trailer endorsement or willingness to complete within the probationary period<p> Able to perform physically demanding tasks<p> Ability to work independently and set priorities<p> W.H.M.I.S.
