GIP is currently seeking an *Heavy Equipment Mechanic*
*Key Responsibilities*
* Ensure all Workplace Safety, Environmental and National Safety Code Policies and Regulations are being adhered to.
* Read diagrams/schematics and manufacturers repair manuals for work procedures.
* Maintain and service a fleet of asphalt, aggregate and construction equipment.
* Able to perform services on electrical, hydraulic, power train, suspension, brake and air systems on aggregate, asphalt & construction equipment.
* Operate a hoist and lift device to position machinery parts in a safe manner.
* Inspect and examine vehicles and equipment.
* Lubricate, service, diagnose, repair, assemble, and maintain vehicles and equipment.
* Timely and accurate diagnosis and repair including computer connection/diagnosis with machine to identify fault codes.
* Provides guidance and instruction to less experienced, or apprentice maintenance personnel.
* Performing hands on maintenance and repairs of all equipment.
* Diagnosing electrical, mechanical and hydraulic troubles.
* Making repairs per the manufacturers specifications.
* Utilize computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes.
* Suggest positive changes to policy and procedures as required.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Maintain excellent customer relations.
* Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.
* Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
*Required Knowledge and Experience*
* 421A Heavy Equipment License an asset
* Candidate must be local to Kitchener / Cambridge area
* Minimum of 5 years? experience in equipment and vehicle maintenance and repairs
* Excellent mechanical knowledge
* Heavy lifting required
* Effective interpersonal skills (spoken and written communication)
* High school graduate asset
