Begin at the beginning. Ace Hotel Toronto seeks kind, curious and industrious humans to join our family. We?ve already got some of the city?s best culinary talent ready to break in our brand-new, top-of-the-line kitchen ? now we just need you. *SUMMARY* Prepare beverage orders in accordance with Ace Hotel standards and recipes. Manage flow of guests in and around the bar area. Keep the bar clean and organized. *CORE FOCUS & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES* Qualified candidates must be able to satisfactorily complete the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned. * Warmly greet and acknowledge guests upon arrival. * Follow established Ace Hotel service sequence for consistent food & beverage guest experiences. * Prepare cocktails and other drink orders to guests? specifications while maintaining Ace Hotel quality standards. * Handle payment for guest purchases in compliance with Ace Hotel, Payment Card Industry and cash handling procedures. * Properly check all guests? identification to ensure legal age compliance. * Properly input guest food & beverage orders through the POS system. * Maintain positive guest relations at all times. * Work with a spirit of teamwork. Communicate needs and ideas to leadership. * Maintain current and accurate knowledge of the menu offerings. * Follow all safety and sanitation policies. * Upsell items to guests. * Assist in inventory for liquor, wine, beer, and other beverage ingredients. * Perform side work as needed. * Keep the bar area clean and organized. *ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS* To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Ability to satisfactorily communicate in verbal and written English with guests, leadership, and co-workers to their understanding. * Prioritize and organize work assignments, have timely follow up and execution. * Have superb time management skills. * Maintain complete knowledge of all hotel services/features and hours of operation. * Other language, mathematical, and reasoning abilities as outlined below. * Ability to comply with physical demands as outlined below. * Knowledge and understanding of Atelier & Ace Culture & initiatives * Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations. * Must meet the required minimum age to serve alcohol. * Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule. * Knowledge of safety initiatives in compliance with serving and OHSA guidelines. *REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE* Smart Serve certification required. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum 1 year previous experience as a bartender. Minimum 2 years previous experience in a fast-paced bar and/or restaurant. Additional hotel and/or restaurant experience preferred. Additional certifications preferred. *LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL, and REASONING ABILITIES* Candidate must meet the following cognitive abilities: * Ability to understand guests? service needs & requests. * Ability to acknowledge guests? requests in a polite manner. * Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written English (additional foreign languages are encouraged and preferred). * Ability to apply logical thinking and understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. * Ability to address and solve problems involving guest and operational issues. * Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations. *PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT* The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The typical environment is a bar atmosphere with ambient room temperatures, ambient lighting, and
