Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Dangerous. Odours. At heights. Noisy. Outdoors. All weather conditions. Work setting: Various locations. Relocation costs not covered by employer. Willing to relocate. Tasks: Read blueprints or other instructions to determine work requirements. Trim trees to achieve the desired pruning objective such as crown cleaning, thinning, raising, reduction, restoration, espalier pruning, vista pruning. Estimate costs. Survey and assess designated sites. Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens. Apply fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, pesticides and other lawn care products. Apply various treatments such as pruning, spraying, repairing damaged areas and injecting with treatment solutions. Examine trees and shrubs to diagnose problems and disease. Plan and co-ordinate the growth and use of plants for landscaping, ornamental uses and other purposes. Plant and move trees. Tree removal. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to work independently. Attention to detail. Repetitive tasks. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Ability to distinguish between colours. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat.
