With this in mind, comes great responsibility - we seek likeminded individuals who are passionate about the community, work with integrity and respect, and are innovative when it comes to the work and services Burnaby provides to our citizens.Reporting to the Manager, Budgets and Reporting this role is responsible for the development of business process and operating models for new and/or major enhancement projects and initiatives across Finance divisions and all City departments and managing projects related thereto; leads department business reviews with a strategic focus for long-range planning. The incumbent researches complex financial issues, provides robust options, including risk analysis, recommendations, and strategies resulting in comprehensive action plans and provides recommendations to improve performance, efficiency and effectiveness for long-term financial health of the City. The role develops financial policies, procedures and business process around financial data processed and stored in SAP/FI/CO/FM/PS/AA/BI and monitors performance measures for corporate reporting requirements. The incumbent liaises with internal and external contacts including provincial government agencies, municipalities, consultants and external auditors in support of external public reporting requirements; leads financial workshops and organizes and facilitates meetings with staff at all levels; delivers presentations to senior management and other staff. Performs related work as required.Qualifications include completion of a degree in Business, Commerce, or a related field, supplemented by the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience working directly with senior management in strategic and long-term business process reviews and/or management of complex projects, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience The role requires thorough knowledge of: statutes, regulations and bylaws including but not limited to the Community Charter, Local Government Act, Employment Standards, Financial Information Act and Canada Revenue Agency regulations; Financial Enterprise Reporting (ERP) Systems, data analysis software, Power BI and MS Office Applications (Visio, PowerPoint, Word and Excel). This role also requires the ability to develop solutions to business problems based on strategic and analytical problem solving; manage projects while understanding the impact of major change on departments, systems and staff jobs; prepare and deliver appropriate, clear and concise communications, both orally and in writing to a range of internal and public audiences; establish and maintain effective working relationships with senior managers, employees, elected officials and a variety of outside individuals and agencies.Hours of work: 70 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:45 PM with a nine-day fortnight schedule.Please submit your application no later than December 23, 2024.
