If you are a team player who contributes to a safe, respectful, and productive work environment for clients, your fellow staff members, and the community please apply as we are currently recruiting for 2 Full Time Shelter Worker Night Shift 12am-8am and 1 Part time Shelter Worker Day Shift 8am-4pm at the ?Out of the Cold Shelter? in Peace River, Alberta.
*Position Overview*
The Shelter Worker position is the first point of contact with the client and follows all shelter policies, procedures, and protocols for intake. This position provides the necessities of food, clothing, and shelter to clients. They also assess and provide guidance of the resources and supports available to the client.
*Ideal Candidate*
The ideal candidate posses the following qualities:
* Flexible and able to adapt in difficult situations
* Critical thinker and able to use common sense in high stress situations
* Non-judgmental attitude
* Understands and supports harm reduction practices
* High level of communication and observation skills
* Has the ability to be caring and compassionate with clients
* Ability to be assertive and uphold the rules/ expectations of the shelter
*Qualifications*
The successful candidate shall possess the following qualifications:
* Completion or working towards education in Social, Human Services or related field is considered an asset
* Experience working with marginalized and vulnerable population in an outreach role or shelter setting is an asset
* Knowledge and respect for Indigenous Cultures
* Knowledge of developments regarding trauma informed care, mental health, addictions, social housing, and vulnerable populations is considered an asset
* Proficient with using Microsoft Office (word, excel) and social media
* Current First Aid and CPR Level ?C? and Safe Food Handling Course
* Provide a satisfactory Criminal Record and Child and Family Services Intervention Record Check
* Must have access to transportation to get to and from work
This full-time position is grant funded and starts immediately until April 30, 2025, with potential for extension.
