*Job description* *Read completely and in detail, important end summary information * *Job Summary - * We are seeking a flexible sewer to join our team to SEW FABRICS BY SEWING MACHINE. The ideal candidate will have a strong skill set with sewing machines, materials, cutting fabrics and enjoys the hands on process from start to finish. This role involves fabricating, assembling, and maintaining various products using sewing machines, and enuring all the sewing projects run smoothly and efficiently. *Skill Required* SEWING Skilled at producing clothing, upholstery or working with fabrics in past or related production. Knowing basic domestic or commercial sewing machines - cutting tools and is open to feel confident learning to develop their skills further. Some prep for orders and packing is required. Fluent in English * Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment. * Working in group production or a workshop, * Previous experience in a warehouse setting is preferred. Physically able and mobile to lift and move minimum 50lbs to waist height or greater. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing tasks as needed. *Traits and Personal Attributes* * Keen interest in working in a close team environment * Enjoys learning on the job * Flexible and adaptable to constructing furniture and cutting and sewing fabrics * Understands shop upkeep to prevent damage to raw materials in the production process. * Flexible at tasks * Open minded * Good with learning new skills * Friendly * Values personal accountability * Wants to grow personally and professionally * Trustworthy * Ethical * Appreciates our conscious efforts to follow B-Corp practices *Experience* SEWING - at home, for tailoring, quilting, garments, gifts, or fabric for furnishing the home like curtains, upholstery and pillows. Min. 12 months Experience production or sewing or working with equipment in a shop. *Education* * Secondary (high) school graduation certificate * Other certifications are an asset, please specify. Additional Experience (as an Asset) * Tailor * Homemaker sewing * Fashion * Tailoring *Job Responsibilities / Tasks* Working with materials for garments or upholstery: * Cutting materials including fabrics * Marking and taking accurate measurements * Sewing with machines and at times by hand * Attention to detail * Packaging (taping/wrapping with care), boxing and shipping * Labeling * Prioritizing * Organization of tasks * Involved in multiple areas of operations * Works safely and uses safety gear provided * Fabricate and assemble components according to specifications and drawings. * Keep working space in the warehouse / shop / studio space clean for daily use. * Perform quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet required standards. * Maintain a clean and safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols. * Collaborate with team members to improve processes and efficiency within the shop.
