Job Title: Senior Industrial Electrician Foreman
Location: Office based in Burnaby, BC, projects throughout the Lower Mainland
Summary:
The Senior Industrial Electrician Foreman is responsible for leading and supervising a team of electricians in the maintenance and repair of complex industrial electrical systems within British Columbia. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to ensure safe and efficient operations while adhering to all safety regulations and industry standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Team Leadership & Supervision:
* Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of industrial electricians, apprentices, and other electrical personnel across various sites within British Columbia.
* Assign tasks, monitor work progress, and ensure timely completion of all assigned work orders.
* Address performance issues, provide feedback, and conduct employee performance reviews.
* Maintain a safe and productive work environment for all team members.
* Electrical Maintenance & Repair:
* Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical problems in industrial equipment, machinery, and control systems.
* Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on electrical systems, including motors, drives, controls, instrumentation, and power distribution equipment.
* Troubleshoot and repair PLC systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and other industrial control systems.
* Perform installation, modification, and repair of electrical wiring, conduit, and other electrical components.
* Safety & Compliance:
* Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, including BC Safety Authority regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and the Canadian Electrical Code.
* Conduct regular safety inspections and address any safety hazards promptly.
* Investigate and report all accidents and incidents.
* Promote a strong safety culture within the team.
* Project Management:
* Assist in the planning and execution of electrical projects, including upgrades, installations, and renovations.
* Coordinate with other maintenance personnel, engineers, and contractors as needed.
* Assist in the development and management of maintenance budgets.
* Troubleshooting & Problem Solving:
* Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical problems in a timely and efficient manner.
* Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve electrical issues.
* Implement effective solutions to prevent future electrical problems.
* Documentation & Record Keeping:
* Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including maintenance logs, work orders, and inspection reports.
* Prepare reports on equipment performance and maintenance activities.
Qualifications:
* Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Technical/Trade School Diploma in Industrial Electrical Technology preferred.
* Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance and repair within British Columbia. 5+ years of experience in a supervisory role.
* Licenses/Certifications:
* Journeyman Electrician License (British Columbia) required.
* Industrial Electrician License (British Columbia) preferred.
* BC Safety Authority certifications (e.g., Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection).
* Occupational First Aid/CPR certification.
* Skills:
* Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
* Knowledge of PLC systems, VFDs, and other industrial control systems.
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Proficiency in basic computer skills.
Physical Demands:
* Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry heavy objects.
* Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
* Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures and noise.
