*JOB OVERVIEW * The Freight Shed restaurants are seeking experienced, highly skilled Specialty Cuisine Cooks with expertise in Southeast Asian cuisine to join our waterfront restaurant team in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia *Position Summary* The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing authentic Southeast Asian dishes from scratch, using traditional techniques and natural, whole, fresh ingredients. This role requires specialized knowledge of regional spices, flavour profiles and cooking methods *Key Responsibilities* Prepare, cook and present authentic Southeast Asian cuisine, including sauces, curries, marinades and spice blends made from scratch Ensure consistency, quality, and authenticity in all dishes Source and utilize traditional herbs, spices and speciality ingredients Maintain strict food safety and sanitation standards Work efficiently in a fast-paced, high volume waterfront restaurant environment Train and mentor kitchen staff in specialized cooking techniques and cultural food preparation Assist in menu development and innovation within the specialty cuisine category Support business growth by expanding unique culinary offerings and enhancing cultural diversity in the local food service industry *REQUIREMENTS * Minimum 2-3 years experience as a specialty cuisine cook in Southeast Asian cuisine Demonstrated knowledge of traditional cooking methods Strong understanding of authentic ingredients and their applications Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a high-volume kitchen Excellent communication and teamwork skills Commitment to maintaining authenticity and high culinary standards Pay: $1,200.00 per week Benefits: * Discounted or free food * Employee assistance program * Flexible schedule * Housing allowance * Relocation assistance Work Location: In person- Location Baddeck, NS
