Alternative Response Officers (AROs) are Community Safety Officers (CSOs) assigned to an ARO position. AROs operate under the direct supervision of the CSO Unit Commander/Supervisor and are appointed as Sworn Special Municipal Constables. They are responsible for proactive enforcement and community safety activities in accordance with approved guidelines, applicable legislation, and municipal policy. The ARO role encompasses the full scope of CSO responsibilities, with an enhanced focus on supporting vulnerable individuals in the community. AROs collaborate with community partners in the course of their duties, including outreach workers. AROs are trained in Section 20 of The Saskatchewan Mental Health Services Act.CSOs are authorized to enforce thirteen provincial statutes under Part V of The Saskatchewan Police Act, 1990 and are also empowered to investigate select low-risk, non-in-progress Criminal Code offences. Incumbents must demonstrate a strong understanding of the Saskatchewan Peace Officer Program, the court system, and trial procedures.- Location North Battleford, SK
