Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: All weather conditions. Work setting: Repair. Nursing home/home for the aged. Tasks: Sweep, mop, scrub and wax hallways, floors and stairs. Empty trash cans and other waste containers. Wash windows, interior walls and ceilings. Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing and electrical systems, and contact tradespersons for major repairs. Perform minor repairs on appliances. Perform safety and security checks. Move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies. Perform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair. Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens. Work with minimal supervision. Prepare, clean and sand surfaces to be painted. Maintain farm machinery, equipment and buildings. Load, move, sort and pile materials and supplies. Ensure that safety standards and departmental policies are met. Clean and maintain equipment. Apply, level and smooth coats of plaster. Housekeeping activities. Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders or other support structures. Restore, clean or paint existing masonry structures.
