The City of Kelowna is expecting to spend $150M on more than 100 infrastructure projects this year. The funds are going towards 52 transportation projects, 23 park projects, 38 utilities projects and 20 protection projects. These projects are focused on renewing existing infrastructure and making targeted investments to support population growth.
Two major infrastructure projects are starting in Kelowna this March. The North End Sanitary Catchment Realignment project will replace the existing sanitary sewer network to support the growing population by fall 2025. The Royal View Transmission Main project will include the installation of a new water transmission main to increase the supply of drinking water by spring 2026.
The City of West Kelowna has received nearly $8M from the Government of Canada’s Housing Accelerator Fund. The funds will be used to fast-track 233 additional homes in the municipality over the next three years.
The Government of Canada is providing more than $25.9M to the Village of Lytton to support the construction of a Community Hub. The new facility will replace infrastructure lost in the 2021 fire.
Okanagan College Penticton has begun construction on a new student housing facility with 101 beds. The project will cost $24M and is mostly funded by the Government of British Columbia. The housing is expected to be ready by fall 2026.
