Position: EY - 22: Educational Assistant EA 3/4 <p>Location: Elsie Yanik <p>Hours/Week: 25-31 Hours per week <p>Start Date: ASAP <p>Job Reference: EY22-09262024 <p>Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is looking for a full-time Educational Assistant in Grade 1-6.<p>Qualifications: Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma<p> May be required to obtain NVCI Level A&BRequirements: Support students growth in the areas of cognition, communication, physical and social development<p> Support and/or implement teacher directed programming <p> Work collaborative under guidance of teacher, CST and members of a multi-disciplinary team<p> Implement specialist (OT, PT, SLP, etc) strategies to achieve required goals<p> Implement behaviour management and educational strategies that facilitate student learning<p> Communicate effectively with students using age appropriate positive reinforcements and/or school specific behaviour strategies<p> Observe student behaviour with focus on achieving positive behavioural/educational outcomes and mitigate/prevent negative ones<p> Provide high level of structure to facilitate completion of required learning outcomes<p> Work and play at students physical level of their activities<p> Provide support in use of adaptive and learning technologies using a variety of devices and associated programs<p> Successfully implement the Positive Behaviour Plan(PBP), if required<p> Medical Procedures such as Catheter, Tube feeding, Feeding and swallowing support, or diabetic monitoring <p> Able to understand, implement and support modified curriculum<p> Able to work with and support students with Autism or complex medical needs<p> Physically handle and transfer students when unsafe<p> Physical ability to lift and move students<p> Provide school directed indoor and outdoor student supervision <p>Employee is expected to work with behaviours related/associated with conduct, obsessive/compulsive, trauma and stress related, severe chronic depressive, feeding and/or eating disorders etc. Other behaviours related to ADHD, emotional/behavioural, learning and speech & language-related disabilities, etc may be encountered. The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Reference Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check. FMCSD will contact past and present employers for references. All FMCSD employees are expected to be computer literate; this includes fluency with e-mail, Internet and MS Office.
