The Governments of Canada and British Columbia have announced an agreement to enhance school programs for 90K children in over 1K schools across the province. The Government of Canada will be providing about $39.4M over the next three years to support the expansion. The Government of Alberta has increased its education budget by 4.5% in 2025-2026, and has allocated $184M to hire 4,000 new education staff. This includes teachers, bus drivers, and educational assistants. About $55M is set aside to address classroom complexity, which includes both the training and recruitment of educational assistants.

The University of P.E.I. was only able to attract just over half of the students that it can accommodate in its French as a second language Bachelor of Education program, which has 30 spots. This year, the Commission scolaire de langue française (CSLF) is offering scholarships of up to $5,000, which cover a portion of the tuition. However, the students who receive the scholarships must commit to working for the CSLF. For information purposes, P.E.I. has one of the highest rates of students taking French immersion.

The New Brunswick Teachers' Association says that the province now has 192 people teaching in anglophone schools without education degrees, due to a shortage of teachers. Nearly 1,000 teachers are expected to retire within three years.
