New home construction could increase in Red Deer following bylaw changes last year that will allow more variety in housing. Currently a 148-unit complex is being built in the Clearview Ridge neighbourhood, with 22 suites allocated to low-income tenants. The City is also processing a permit for a 28-unit apartment building with eight commercial units.

The City of Calgary is contributing more than $20M from its downtown incentive program to five residential projects that will add 1,100 new homes to the city’s core. The projects include three new residential towers slated to open in 2027 or 2028, and two office-to-residential conversions opening this year.
