The Federal Government will commit $1.5B over 10 years to implement the Nunavut land claim agreement. Included in the implementation agreement is $600M for job training, which seeks to increase Inuit representation among the territorial public service. Funding will also be made available for territorial institutions, as well as new resources for hunter, trapper and wildlife organizations.

The owner of downtown Edmonton’s 1910 Union Bank building is redeveloping the space, adding business headquarters and a new restaurant. The Inuvialuit Regional Corporation has secured a $100M loan from the Canada Infrastructure Bank to develop the Inuvialuit Energy Security Project in the NWT. The gas plant and well project will replace imported LNG and propane, ensuring local energy security. It will create jobs, provide long-term energy, and benefit six Inuit communities. Construction starts this year, with gas production expected by the end of 2026.
