The Government of Northwest Territories is granting up to $8,000 through the Take a Kid Trapping program. The program aims to teach traditional life skills such as trapping, setting fish nets, hunting, firearm safety, outdoor cooking, and conservation. The Northwest Territories government and the Northwest Territories Teachers’ Association ratified a new collective agreement, retroactive to August 1, 2023, and effective until July 31, 2026. The agreement includes a retroactive salary increase of 5%, a 3% increase in 2024, and a 4% increase in 2025. The agreement also includes increases to the travel per diem rates and medical travel time.
